Day One taking the Shuttle Bus to Wonder Lake in Denali National Park

Friday, June 30, 2017. You can see how the morning looked just before getting on the 5:15 AM bus to Wonder Lake. It would be about an eleven hour ride out and back. Although Denali and other mountains were all covered in fog when we got to the Eielson Visitor Center at mile 66 of our 85 mile journey to Wonder Lake, we got a little glimpse of Denali on our return trip! However, it was a very good grizzly bear day. Before we arrived at Wonder Lake, I captured the Porcupine in the tree next to our bus. Omar Lance, our bus driver got us in position for the bears to walk right up next to and in front of our bus. Great experience! Many times you only see the bears at a distance of one to two miles! Since we finished our bus tour around 4:00 PM, I got this Alaska train picture out the window of the bus as it was leaving Denali headed for Fairbanks.

Fairbanks to Denali National Park, Alaska

Thursday, June 29, 2017. The morning had very heavy overcast clouds traveling from Fairbanks to Denali National Park. However, from the top of a hill on the Parks Highway from over 200 miles away, Denali was standing in the sunshine. Pretty cool to see it along the highway. Captured the Caribou images at mile 14 of the Denali Park Road, just before the end of my automobile drive would end and I would have to turn around. Only shuttle buses can travel beyond this point, unless you have a permit to camp in the backcountry!

Wednesday, June 28, 2017. Captured the oil pipe line images at the edge of Fairbanks. Had a great time visiting the Vintage Automobile Museum in Fairbanks. These are some of my favorites. Thinking of how my friend, Brian would love this place. Took the self-image at the River’s Edge RV Campground the night before heading to Denali National Park.
